Does not work with the new Unison line (2010-08-17)
Unfortunately, despite this being a "universal" calphalon steamer, it does not fit their newest line - the "Unison" nonstick cookware set(Calphalon Unison Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set). Perhaps buying in store it lists on the box all the sets it does fit, but I did not see the info before registering for it online. The same applies to the double boiler. Just a head's up! Overall, though, the quality seems good, I wish it would fit!
Steamer Insert is phenomenal (2010-02-08)
The universal steamer insert has been a great addition to our cookware. We had the old collapsable steel insert that didn't fit a large amount of vegetables when we needed to steam them. The insert has been a great replacement and fits multiple pots depending on the amount of vegetables to be steamed. On top of this, is that we didn't need to buy a whole other pot with steamer insert. Thank you Calphalon for making this an easy decision for us!
A bit on the smaller side (2009-11-22)
Inner diameter at the top - 8in; depth - 4 in. Tapers slightly towards the bottom.

I found it also fits 2.5 and 4.5 qt. pots from Calphalon Tri-Ply set Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless-Steel 13-Piece Cookware Set.
It is a bit on a smaller side. Large lobster will not fit whole, you'd have to break it up.
Not so universal (2009-09-23)
I got this to go with my contemporary stainless. Beware - it does not fit! I wish the product description would include what is says on the box, it clearly tells you which products it fits.

Almost perfect (2009-07-12)
I've had it for 8 months now and love it. The bottom can be a little annoying to clean because of the different size bases but I can use it on all of my smaller pots.
